Introduction

Who wrote 2 Corinthians?

Paul

Why did he write it?

To defend his apostleship.

What is meant here by apostleship?

Apostleship here means claiming to be an apostle.

Where do we see Paul defending his apostleship in this letter?

We see a hint of it already in the greeting where Paul identifies himself as an apostle.  “Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God…” (2 Corinthians 1:1)  Clearly, Paul wants his  readers to know that he is an apostle and not by his own choice but by God’s call.  Paul continues throughout the entire book to defend his apostleship.
