Galatians 5:1
Τῇ ἐλευθερίᾳ, ἡμᾶς Χριστὸς ἠλευθέρωσεν· στήκετε, οὖν, καὶ μὴ πάλιν ζυγῷ δουλείας ἐνέχεσθε.
Galatians 5:2
Ἴδε, ἐγὼ Παῦλος λέγω ὑμῖν ὅτι ἐὰν περιτέμνησθε, Χριστὸς ὑμᾶς οὐδὲν ὠφελήσει.
Galatians 5:3
μαρτύρομαι δὲ πάλιν παντὶ ἀνθρώπῳ περιτεμνομένῳ ὅτι ὀφειλέτης ἐστὶν ὅλον τὸν νόμον ποιῆσαι.
Galatians 5:4
κατηργήθητε ἀπὸ Χριστοῦ, οἵτινες ἐν νόμῳ δικαιοῦσθε· τῆς χάριτος ἐξεπέσατε.

Ἡμεῖς γὰρ, Πνεύματι ἐκ πίστεως, ἐλπίδα δικαιοσύνης ἀπεκδεχόμεθα.
Galatians 5:6
ἐν γὰρ Χριστῷ Ἰησοῦ, οὔτε περιτομή τι ἰσχύει, οὔτε ἀκροβυστία· ἀλλὰ πίστις δι’ ἀγάπης ἐνεργουμένη.

Ἐτρέχετε καλῶς. τίς ὑμᾶς ἐνέκοψεν, ‹τῇ› ἀληθείᾳ μὴ πείθεσθαι;

ἡ πεισμονὴ οὐκ ἐκ τοῦ καλοῦντος ὑμᾶς.

μικρὰ ζύμη ὅλον τὸ φύραμα ζυμοῖ.

Ἐγὼ δέ, ἀδελφοί, εἰ περιτομὴν ἔτι κηρύσσω, τί ἔτι διώκομαι; ἄρα κατήργηται τὸ σκάνδαλον τοῦ σταυροῦ.

Ὄφελον καὶ ἀποκόψονται οἱ ἀναστατοῦντες ὑμᾶς.

Ὑμεῖς γὰρ ἐπ’ ἐλευθερίᾳ ἐκλήθητε, ἀδελφοί· μόνον μὴ τὴν ἐλευθερίαν εἰς ἀφορμὴν τῇ σαρκί. ἀλλὰ διὰ τῆς ἀγάπης, δουλεύετε ἀλλήλοις.

Galatians 5:23
πραΰτης, ἐγκράτεια· κατὰ τῶν τοιούτων, οὐκ ἔστιν νόμος.
Galatians 5:24
Οἱ δὲ τοῦ Χριστοῦ Ἰησοῦ, τὴν σάρκα ἐσταύρωσαν σὺν τοῖς παθήμασιν καὶ ταῖς ἐπιθυμίαις.
Those of Christ Jesus, have crucified the flesh with the passions and desires.
Paraphrase: But you might ask, if the Holy Spirit is carrying on this warfare against the flesh (Galatians 5:17), why is it that the flesh so often seems to come out on top? Why do we still see so much of the deeds of the flesh in our conduct? I had previously taught you that the Holy Spirit produces good in our life such that the evil desires of our flesh are pushed aside (Galatians 5:16); but often, we see the opposite. Our daily experience tells a sad story of recurring desires for our old sinful past. What are we to do? Listen to me, dear friends. I want you to recall two things: first, the crucifixion of our Lord when God canceled the charges against us by nailing them to the cross. (Colossians 2:14) Yes, because Jesus was an atonement for our sin, we were taken out from under God’s wrath. But there is still another event which you must also consider. That is the time when you, by faith in Jesus, entered into this death and received the benefits of it. This was the time when you, as it were, took all your sins and nailed them to the cross. Yes, we could say that your old sinful self was nailed to the cross and died with Jesus. (Galatians 2:19-20) And when did this happen? It happened the first time you put your trust in Jesus and turned your back on sin. At that time, you were baptized with the Holy Spirit, and a decisive break was established between you and your sin. (Romans 6:3-6; Colossians 2:11-12; Acts 22:16) Now, my friends, this is what you are to do with your remaining sin. Bring it, all of it, to the cross of Christ. Place it there at the foot of the cross. Now look up and see the love of God in cancelling the sin charges which were levelled against you. See the love of Christ in being willing to take your place and to receive on Himself the full wrath of God which we rightly deserved. Recall the moment when you said yes to the gospel and took refuge in the arms of Jesus. Remember with joy the cleansing flood of the Holy Spirit as He came down on you with power and washed your sins away. Recall all of this to your mind, beloved, and now look again at your sin. Does it look different to you now? Does it still hold any appeal? Does the sin which moved God to give His only begotten Son to the cross still draw you? When you see your sin as the hammer which drove the nails into Christ’s hands, does it still appeal to you? This is the way to deal with sin that still remains in us after we have been saved. Bring it to the cross again and again and see it in the light of all that God and Christ have done for us there. Then, nail these sins to that cross, turn your back on it, and walk away.

Galatians 5:25
Εἰ ζῶμεν Πνεύματι, Πνεύματι καὶ στοιχῶμεν.
If we live by the Spirit, by the Spirit we also march.
Paraphrase: This is what it means to march in step with the Holy Spirit. He is the One who leads us back to the cross and to remember all what took place there. () He is the One who brings us back to that happy day in which we came into a saving union with Jesus. He helps us to understand that blessed Pentecost which took place when He came down on us and set us free from sin. Yes, friends, if it was by this Spirit that we first received spiritual life, then let us continue to march with Him and to let Him lead us to remember all these great redemptive events. In doing so, we will soon find our sinful nature lying dead at our feet.

Galatians 5:26
