And Pharoah said to his servants, “Is there to be found as this? A man on whom is the spirit of the gods?
Paraphrase: Pharoah listened closely to Joseph’s suggestion. Then, he spoke. “Men, why are we sitting around here wondering who would be a good man to spearhead this project when right before us, we have a man who has just conclusively proved to us that the spirit of our gods rests on him? Clearly, there is no one in our kingdom more suited to this project than Joseph himself.

and Pharoah said to Joseph, “After the gods caused you to know all this, there is no one so understanding and wise as you.”
Paraphrase: Clearly, the gods have given you to understand the interpretation of my dream; and as a result of this, there is no one in the entire kingdom who has the knowledge and discernment that you possess.

and Pharoah took off his royal ring from off his hand and placed her on the hand of Joseph, and he caused him to be clothed in the garment of white linen, and he placed a chain of gold on his neck.
Paraphrase: Then Pharoah got up from his throne, took off his royal ring and put it on Joseph’s finger. He called for the pure white, royal robe and placed it on Joseph. He took the pure gold, royal chain and placed it on Joseph’s neck.
Comments:
Hengstenberg (p30): According to Genesis 41:42, Pharaoh put upon Joseph at the time of his advancement, his signet-ring, and arrayed him in garments of byssus, and put the gold chain (the article shows that it was done in reference to a custom common in such a case) about his neck. As the gift of the seal-ring is not peculiar to Egypt, but common in the East, we do not delay upon it. But the garments of byssus belong necessarily to the naturalizing of Joseph. Garments of cloth from the vegetable kingdom, linen and cotton, were considered by the Egyptians as pure and holy, and were in high estimation among them; the priests wore these only, according to Herodotus, 2. 37, where the term linen in opposition to woolen includes also cotton. And even among the rest of the Egyptians, these were the most valued garments. Herodotus says: “They wear woolen garments which are ever newly washed,” and the woolen garments which they commonly wore for outer garments were thrown off as soon as they entered the temple.§ In reference to the third mark of distinction, the putting on of the necklace, the monuments furnish abundant explanation. In the tombs of Beni Hassan, many slaves are represented, each of whom has in in his hand something which belongs to the dress or ornaments of his master. The first carries one of the necklaces with which the neck and breast of persons of high rank are generally adorned. Over it stands: Necklace of Gold. At Beni Hassan there is also a similar representation in another tomb of a noble Egyptian. By the form of the necklace, it is remarked, the distinction of individuals in regard to rank and dignity was probably denoted. Men of the common order seldom wear such ornaments, while the pictures of the kings and the great are always adorned with them.

and he caused him to ride in the chariot, the second, which was to him, and they called before him, “Bow!” and he placed him over all the land of Egypt.
Paraphrase: Then he called for the royal chariot, which was always used by the grand vizier, and motioned for Joseph to get in. As Joseph rode through the streets, the palace courtiers ran before him shouting out, “The royal vizier of Egypt! Bow the knee!” By this ceremony, Pharoah gave over the entire land of Egypt into Joseph’s hands.

and Pharoah said to Joseph, “I am Pharoah and apart from you, a man will not lift up his hand and his foot in all the land of Egypt.
Paraphrase: But Pharoah was not yet done. “I am Pharoah,” he pronounced, “and I now solemnly declare that nothing shall be done in all the land of Egypt apart from your oversight.”

and Pharoah called the name of Joseph, Zaphnath Pa-aneyach, and he gave to him Asenath, daughter of Poti Fera, priest of On for a wife, and Joseph went forth over the land of Egypt.
Paraphrase: Then Pharoah gave Joseph a new name. He called him Zaphnath Paneah. Furthermore, Pharoah arranged a marriage for Joseph. In keeping with his new status, he gave him the daughter of the great Poti Fera, the priest of On. Her name was Asenath. With this, the ceremonies were complete, and Joseph was now responsible for the entire land of Egypt.

Now Joseph was a son of thirty years when he stood before Pharoah, king of Egypt, and Joseph went forth from before Pharoah, and he was passing through all the land of Egypt.
Paraphrase: Then Joseph left the court and immediately plunged himself into his new responsibilities. Back and forth he went traversing the entire country and taking careful notes of all that he saw. Now Joseph was thirty years old when he was taken out of the prison and began to serve in the court of Pharoah.

And the land made, in the seven years of abundance, handfuls.
Paraphrase: Now Pharoah’s dream had indicated that the next seven years were to be abundantly prosperous and productive years, and this is exactly what took place. The land of Egypt produced bumper crops every year. Bushels and bushels of grain were reaped, and all kinds of produce grew in abundance.
