Talking Things Over:

  1. How does Philippians 2:7 show that Jesus suffered all His life on earth?
  2. Why does the Apostle’s Creed only say He “suffered under Pontius Pilate”?  Didn’t He suffer more than that?
  3. What was the cause of our Savior’s suffering?
  4. How many times, and by whom, was Jesus mocked and humiliated in our brief Scripture lesson?  What was His reaction? (1 Peter 2:23)
  5. What do Romans 8:1 and 8:32 say about the result of Jesus bearing God’s curse against our sins?

Words to Remember:

  • Humiliation – our Savior was brought low from the glory of heaven to the shameful suffering of His life and death.
  • Cross – a form of punishment used for the worst criminals. Jesus hung between heaven and earth rejected by both God and man.
