A. No. After 40 days He ascended into heaven.

Q4. What does the resurrection of Christ mean for us?
A. It means that Christ will raise us up, for death will have no power over us.

Q5. What does the ascension of Christ mean for us?
A. It means that He is praying for us, sends us His Spirit, and will take us to meet Him in heaven.

Talking Things Over:

  1. Explain the “Key Verse” for this lesson in your own words. How must we respond to Christ’s exaltation? (see Philippians 2:10-11).
  2. Why was it important for Jesus to show Himself to His disciples? (see Acts 1:9-10; also Acts 1:3; John 20:31).
  3. Explain the contrast between the way Jesus came to earth and the way He left.
  4. If Jesus broke the power of death, why do people still die? Is there a difference between the kind of death which a Christian dies and that of a non-Christian?

Words to Remember:

  • Exaltation – after His life long humiliation, God raised Jesus up to a place of glory and honor. This began with His resurrection.
  • Resurrection – Jesus was raised to life after three days. Death could not hold Him because He had paid for sin.
  • Ascension – forty days after the resurrection, Jesus was lifted up to heaven in the sight of His disciples.
