Q5. How does God want us to keep His law?
A. We must keep His law with love in our hearts for Him and for our neighbors.
Talking Things Over:
1. God made His people a “separate” people from the Egyptians. He saved them from their slavery. To keep them free, He gave them His law. How does the law keep us free from the slavery of sin?
2. Why were the Israelites afraid to hear God speak directly? Would you be afraid too? Should you and I be afraid of God?
3. Even though he did not keep God’s law perfectly, David sang often about how much he loved that law. See Psalm 19 and Psalm 119. Why did he love the law of God? What good does the law do in your life?
Words to Remember:
- Idols are earthly things like pictures, statues or other things by which people try to show what God is like.
- Covet is the sin by which we desire something that belongs to someone else.
- Holy means to be “cut off” from sin and dedicated to God.
