A definite noun is a noun which is specific and identifiable in a given context as opposed to entities which are indefinite (cf indefinite pronoun). Usually a noun is made definite by the use of the article, but there are many other ways of making a noun definite. A noun is definite:
- If it is articular;
- If it is a proper noun.
Hebrew:
A Hebrew noun is definite if it:
- has an article.
- is in construct with an articular noun or a proper noun (more);
- has a pronominal suffix;
- has the object marker word.
