Ezekiel 10

Ezekiel 10:1

and I saw and behold toward the platform which was over the head of the cherubim as a stone Sapphire as the appearance of the likeness of a throne; it was seen over them.

Paraphrase:  I will now describe the next vision I saw.  This time, I saw the same platform which I had seen previously when YHWH first appeared to me by the Chebar river.  This platform was clear as glass and was positioned above the heads of the four cherubs who waited on the Great King and did His will.  Now above this platform I saw what looked like a great throne.  This throne shone with all the brilliance of a bright blue stone, like a Sapphire.

for רָקִיעַ see the Jewish Encyclopedia.

Ezekiel 10:2

and he said to the man clothed with linens and He said, “Go to between to the wheels in the place by the Cherub and fill your hands with burning coals of fire from between by the Cherubim and scatter over the city and he went before my eyes.

Paraphrase:  The man sitting on this glorious throne (I only saw His glory and brilliance, not His person) spoke to the man, who was wearing the priestly garments, “Go to the which are spinning beneath the Cherubim.  Take a handful of the burning coals which you will find there and scatter them over the entire city of Jerusalem.

Comments:

Linen was the clothes of the priests (Exodus 28:39).

Ezekiel 10:3

and the cherubim were standing by the right side to the house when the man was entering and the cloud filled the inner court.

Paraphrase:  Now at this time, the four cherubim were standing on the right side of the temple and the Glory-Cloud of YHWH with all its glory and brilliance filled the entire courtyard with glory.  It was then, that the man in the priestly garment entered the temple to do what YHWH had commanded him.

Comments:
For בְּבֹאֹו, see Gesenius §114e.  The preposition here gives a temporal nuance.

Ezekiel 10:4

and the Glory of YHWH arose from off the cherub to the threshold of the house, and the house was filled with the cloud, and the court was full with the shining of the glory of YHWH.

Paraphrase:  Now when the man entered the temple, the Glory-Cloud of YHWH moved from where it was above the Cherubim to the threshold of the temple door.  It appeared to me that it was preparing to exit the building.  In spite of this move, the entire temple courtyard was blazing with the radiance and splendor of this Glory-Cloud.

Ezek 10:5

and the sound of the wings of the cherubim was heard to the court of courts as the sound of God Shaddai when He speaks.

Paraphrase:  Now when this Glory-Cloud began to move, immediately the cherubim stood to attention and prepared to move as well.  The sound produced by their wings was awesome and reminded me of the sound I had heard when God had spoken to me by the Chebar river.  The sound was such that even those in the outer courts could have heard it as these cherubim stood ready to do whatever the Great King would ask of them.
