subject

Every verb must have a subject. video  The subject of the sentence is a noun in the nominative case usually performing the action represented by the verb. (but see voice).

He came to His own, and His own people did not receive Him.

“He” is the subject of the verb “came”. “people” is the subject of the verb “did receive”.
