Lesson 8

1. What is necessary for a Christian to believe?
All that is contained in the gospel and summarized for us in the Apostles’ Creed. (John 20:31; Revelation 22:18, 19)

2. What do the articles of this creed declare to us?
They declare to us God the Father and our creation, God the Son and our redemption, and God the Holy Spirit and our sanctification.

3. Since there is only one true God, why do you speak of three?
Because God has so revealed himself that these three distinct persons are the one, true and eternal God.

4. How has God assured you that He will be your God?
By the baptism which I received from him, in the name of the Father, and the Son and the Holy Spirit. (Matthew 28:19)
